Hearing Safety
1. About This App
Ultrasonic Generator produces sound in two ranges:
- Audible (20 Hz – 20 kHz) — you can hear it normally. Standard hearing protection rules apply.
- Ultrasonic (above 20 kHz) — you cannot hear it, but the acoustic pressure can still damage your hearing. There is no warning sensation (no pain, no discomfort) before damage occurs.
Because ultrasonic sound is inaudible, there is no natural reflex to turn away. Users typically do not realize they are being exposed until damage is already done.
2. Who Is Most At Risk
Children & Infants
Children can hear frequencies up to 25–30 kHz — well above the range most adults can perceive. Infants are particularly sensitive. Hearing damage in children is permanent and affects language development and learning.
Pets & Animals
| Animal | Upper hearing range |
|---|---|
| Dog | ~45 kHz |
| Cat | ~64 kHz |
| Rat / Mouse | ~90 kHz |
| Bat | ~110 kHz |
Animals exposed to ultrasonic sound may experience stress, anxiety, disorientation, seizures (in severe cases), or long-term behavioral changes. Always move pets to another room before using the app.
Adults with Hearing Conditions
If you have tinnitus, hyperacusis, Ménière's disease, or any other hearing condition, consult your doctor before using the app. Ultrasonic exposure may worsen existing conditions.
3. Safe Volume & Duration
The following limits are general guidance for safe listening, drawn from widely accepted occupational and consumer-safety practices. They are provided for awareness only and are not a substitute for professional advice. Always start at the lowest effective volume and stop if you feel any discomfort.
| Sound level | Safe duration |
|---|---|
| 85 dB | ~8 hours |
| 91 dB | ~2 hours |
| 100 dB | ~15 minutes |
| 110 dB | Immediate risk |
| 120 dB | Pain threshold — do not exceed |
Start at the lowest volume that produces a useful effect. Increase only if necessary, and never to the maximum.
4. Recommended Usage
- Take a break every 15–20 minutes.
- Do not sleep with continuous playback.
- Keep volume below 80% for prolonged use.
- Use headphones only if they are designed for your device and are in good condition.
- Do not point the speaker directly at your ears or anyone else's ears.
- Stop playback before putting the device in a pocket or bag.
5. Distance Matters
Sound pressure decreases with distance, but ultrasonic frequencies are more directional than audible sound. Keep your device at least:
- 30 cm (12 in) from your ears at low volume.
- 1 meter (3 ft) from children and pets.
- 3 meters (10 ft) in shared public spaces.
6. Stop Immediately If You Notice
- Ringing or buzzing in the ears (tinnitus)
- Pressure or fullness in the ears
- Muffled hearing or difficulty understanding speech
- Headache, dizziness, or nausea
- Any feeling of discomfort or unease
7. Public Space Etiquette
Using ultrasonic frequencies in public can affect other people, their pets, and wildlife. Always:
- Use headphones if the intent is personal experimentation.
- Avoid hospitals, schools, parks, restaurants, and public transport.
- Do not use ultrasonic modes to drive away animals or people.

This app is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition. Any claims of therapeutic benefit are not supported by clinical evidence.
If you have a medical condition or are unsure whether using the app is safe for you, consult a qualified audiologist or physician before use.
9. What the App Does to Protect You
In addition to this page, the app implements:
- A safety warning shown before playback, requiring your explicit acknowledgment.
- A passive warning on the splash screen every time you open the app.
- Ongoing access to this safety information from the Settings menu.
